May 12, 2018   SWEDISH SETTLEMENT AT PINE LAKE/CHENEQUA, WI   
History tells us it was 1841 when the first Swedish settlement in Wisconsin was established in the area of Chenequa, Wisconsin. Who were they? Why did they choose Wisconsin and why the Pine Lake/Chenequa area? What was their life in the new country like? What happened to the settlement? Did they stay? Join us as SAHSWI member John Elliott takes us back in history to the Early Swedish Settlement at Pine Lake/Chenequa, Wisconsin.
The meeting will be held SATURDAY, May 12, 2018 – 1:30 p.m. Redemption Lutheran Church, 4057 North Mayfair Road (Hwy. 100, just north of Capitol Dr.) Wauwatosa, Wisconsin and we will have coffee following.

 SUNDAY, JUNE 24, 2018 – SCANDINAVIAN MIDSOMMAR CELEBRATION
Celebrate the Summer solstice with us the Scandinavian way on Sunday, June 24, 2018, at Heidelberg Park, 700 West Lexington Blvd., Glendale.

We’ll decorate the majstang (maypole), make flower crowns, have a procession to raise the decorated pole and dance around it. Join us for a program of music and dance groups and enjoy a game of Kubb. Bring flowers, greenery and your lawn chairs to join us for a free afternoon of fun from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. with food available for purchase from 12 – 1 p.m.
